Liz Meredith

Biography:
Liz Meredith is a violist/violinist, improviser, and composer from Baltimore, Maryland. Her music explores many creative facets, from composing instrumental works to making drone-based ambient music, electro-acoustic pieces, visual/graphic scores, and solo improvisations.

Her most recent projects include solo music as Liz Meredith, X|i|O, collaborations with John Somers, Beth Brown, and Timothy Wisniewski, and work as an artist/designer for Vaux Flores. In addition to performing her own music, Liz has contributed string parts for recordings by Monica Lionheart, Teletextile, and Microkingdom, and has premiered 21st-century music by emerging composers.

She has toured as a soloist, and performed at music festivals and conferences throughout the U.S. including Signal Flow (Mills College, Oakland, CA), Time Stands Still: Notation in Musical Practice (Wesleyan Univ., Hartford, CT), and High Zero Festival (Baltimore, MD).

Liz received her Bachelor’s Degree in String Performance and Film Music from Berklee College of Music (Boston, MA), and her Master’s Degree in Music Composition from Mills College (Oakland, CA). She has studied with Fred Frith, and Hank Dutt of Kronos Quartet.

Liz is currently based in Baltimore, Maryland.
